My silver dollar fry are now 4 weeks old. 10 eggs hatched out of about 40 that I collected and all ten are still alive. I tried this as an experiment just to see if I could do it. Now that I know how easy it is, I'll do a major collection soon and try to hatch between 50 and 100 eggs. My silver dollars are constantly spawning in a community tank and lay hundreds of eggs at a time. It would be even easier if I could get them to spawn in their own tank, but I tried that with no luck. The eggs were slightly smaller than angel eggs and took 3 days to hatch. The fry were long, skinny and transparent. After 3 weeks they started taking on the round forms of silver dollars and got some darker color to them. Here is a pic of a 4 week old silver dollar fry ....

I kept only the smallest one, now living with the adults. Four months old and over 4 inches in length.
