Help! Okay, 4 years ago, I started out with a feeder fish for my daughter. Goldie has been through three tanks (now she is in a 10 gallon with one other fancy goldfish - Orangy) Well, I don't know how to keep a 10 gallon tank. I do have a filter on it which gets very dirty very fast from their waste. I vacuum the gravel every week and replace the water. I did have brown algae growing (I bought two plecos (not at the same time) which died from starvation apparently they don't eat brown algae) then I was told to add a light which I did, now I have GREEN algae growing. I added yet another pleco which was eating ( I know it was because it was pooping) and now that one has died!!! HELP! How can I possibly keep this darn tank clean??? Now Goldies' tail has a blood streak in it and the base of her tail is red. I'm at a loss. I don't do those amonia or nitrate checks, I wouldn't know what to do to remedy a problem anyway. I never thought I would care so much but they are living beings and it pains me to think they are suffering. I will never bring another pleco into the tank I am too distraught over the fact that I murdered three already. Is there anyway a 10 gallon tank can be low maintenance?
